Something Different
I’m saying this restlessness, this compulsion to do something, to shake it up, comes not because I have to but because I want to, not out of desperation, but imagination. Isn’t it possible to want something different or more not because you are unhappy or dissatisfied or laid low by the vicissitudes of life, not because a door closes behind you, but because you suddenly see so many doors ahead of you? Doesn’t midlife seem to be the perfect time to start opening some of them, to start taking a few steps down those roads not taken?
